King Post System
King Post System, also known as Soldier piles, are constructed of steel H sections spaced about 2 to 3m apart and are driven prior to excavation. As the excavation proceeds, horizontal timber sheeting (lagging) is inserted behind the H pile flanges.
Soldier piles are most suitable in conditions such as over-consolidated clays, soils above the water table if they have some cohesion and free draining soils which can be dewatered, like sands.
They do not suit soils such as soft clays and weak running soils (sands) that allow large movements.
Avantages:
- Over 100m Linear it will reduce the cost of piles by 25% taking into account costs of sleepers or formwork.
- Installation is 3 times faster than traditional CFA piles
- Extraction and reuse of materials is also possible.
