Design Methodology 

Our team comprises engineers who work in addressing the design needs of customers in line with Eurocode 7 standards. Whether this is a straightforward trench box solution, or a more complex design involving concrete or sheet piles and supports, we welcome all contact from our customers.

design software.jpgThis service is provided free of charge, is fully covered by PI Insurance and will frequently involve us in direct discussions with the clients consulting engineers.

Using our design service can help save €0,000s on a 100m linear of sheet  piling:

  • Reduce pile length - through better application of load requirements to ground conditions, a one meter reduction on pile length could be achieved.
  • Reduce steel width – the grade of steel required based on load requirements and corrosion possibilities can be reduce.
  • Reduce Cantilever depth – improved design can affect a reduction in cantilever by better analysis of ground conditions and use of lesser steel & additional frames.

SupportIT is a design and analysis tool for cantilevered and propped sheet pile retaining walls. Multi-layered excavations may be defined, with different soils on each side of the excavation.

Different pressure models (Rankine, Coulomb, etc), sheet pile penetration models (Free/Fixed Earth, etc) and factor of safety calculations (Net/Gross Pressure, Burland-Potts) provide complete control over a design. Surface loads, foundations and sloping/irregular ground may be modelled.

SupportIT calculates the optimum positions of supporting frames, and generates a method statement for installing a design.

On Site Advice

Our on site engineer will be pleased to visit site and discuss particular problems that may arise. This can provide a useful assistance to the consulting engineer in approving a particular design. Equally, we can arrange to visit your office to discuss your particular needs.
